Four checks before you write: which past tense · which case · where the verb goes · plain or polite.

And two A2-specific ones worth adding: is this hypothetical? (Konjunktiv, not present) and do I have one subject or two? (um…zu or damit).

• Wenn ich mehr Zeit hätte, würde ich an einem Kurs teilnehmen, um schneller zu lernen.

  If I had more time I would take a course in order to learn faster.

  hypothetical + fixed preposition + purpose
